Stapleton

Stapleton is the community adjacent to the Fitzsimons Life Science District on the northwest corner.

The site of the Stapleton International Airport for over 80 years, Stapleton began its 4,700 acre re-development in 2001 and is already a thriving neighborhood. Designed to become a mixed-use community, Stapleton includes homes, apartments, shops, schools, parks and offices. Currently, more than 7,000 residents live at Stapleton in the wide range of home styles and prices available, and enjoy the variety of shopping and dining amenities, as well as the convenience of the five on-site schools, and miles of parks and open space.

Stapleton was designed to be a walkable community, with wide sidewalks, close-by shopping and amenities, and steps from parks, biking paths and trails. Three shopping centers are already open with something for everyone – including everything from grocery stores and gas stations to the Home Depot, Macy’s Department Store and Target. Stapleton’s office offerings are growing, with three office buildings open and more under construction.

At completion in an estimated 15- 20 years, Stapleton will include:

  • 12,000 homes and apartments
  • 30,000 residents
  • 35,000 employees
  • 3 million square feet of shopping
  • 1,100 acres of parks and open space
