Schools
Widely recognized as one of the finest urban school systems in the country, Aurora Public Schools (APS) is the sixth largest school district in Colorado and one of the most diverse. It serves more than 32,000 students from over 100 different countries and is committed to seeing each one through high school graduation with the option to continue on to college. There are 49 schools in the district: 31 elementary schools, two K-8 schools, seven middle schools, four comprehensive high schools and three charter schools. APS also has one of only five vocational/technical colleges in the state.
The nearby Stapleton development is part of the Denver Public Schools (DPS) system. At Stapleton, the Stapleton Education Master Plan was developed by representatives of the City and County of Denver, DPS, the Stapleton Foundation and Forest City to make Stapleton a model for lifelong learning.
Within the Stapleton area, there are charter, private, vocational and other learning opportunities. New schools are being built every year to accommodate the residents of this growing community.
