Housing + Neighborhoods

During the past decade, Northeast Metro Denver has experienced phenomenal growth. The area includes 300 square miles within four cities, including Denver and Aurora—home of the Fitzsimons Life Science District. Today, Northeast Metro Denver is a diverse, highly livable place offering a unique mixture of historic neighborhoods and new mixed-used communities. Best of all, the area literally has something for everyone, from the young worker looking for an affordable urban apartment to the Chief Scientific Officer seeking a distinctive single-family home.

The Stapleton Community
The Fitzsimons Life Science District is immediately adjacent to one of Northeast Metro Denver’s fastest-growing communities: Stapleton. Built on the former site of the Stapleton International Airport, this unique community is gradually shifting Denver’s center of gravity eastward. Since it began its redevelopment in 2001, the community has grown to more than 7,000 people—individuals and families who genuinely embrace the idea of a mixed-use community that seamlessly blends residential with retail, commercial and open space. Stapleton offers housing options to suit every taste and budget, each convenient to a healthy variety of shopping, dining and recreational choices. To learn more, click here.

New Development in Aurora
Many of Colorado’s leading development companies are constructing new housing in Aurora, resulting in diverse, well-planned communities that accommodate all income levels. Many developments feature executive housing, particularly in southeast Aurora near E-470, and modern starter homes are going up throughout the city. The city is served by network of highly accessible parks, hiking/biking trails and open space. Adding to its charm: a recently renovated historic downtown area, including the Aurora Fox Arts Center —a restored 1940s cinema that is home to the Aurora Symphony Orchestra and hosts an annual Summer Art Walk as well as an Asian Film Festival.

Historic Denver Neighborhoods
The Fitzsimons Life Science District is also just a short drive away from several of East Denver’s oldest, most beautiful neighborhoods—many of which are protected historic districts. The closest are Park Hill, known for its wide, tree-lined avenues and distinguished Tudor-style homes, and Hilltop, which features a wide range of architectural styles on larger lots (many offering views of the Front Range).
