A most appropriate resident.

Considering the history of this site, it only makes sense that the Department of Veterans Affairs would maintain a distinguished presence here.

The Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a teaching hospital primarily affiliated with the various centers and institutes of the University Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The hospital provides for the health care needs of veterans in the Rocky Mountain Region and offers residency training in all major medical and surgical specialties and sub-specialties. Associated training is offered in nursing, psychology, audiology, social work, dietetics and pharmacy.

On March 18, 2009, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will build a stand-alone replacement hospital for its existing facility in Denver at Fitzsimons. The new medical center will provide veterans with a full range of medical, laboratory, research and counseling services, including services for veterans with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and other disabilities. The new center will include a 30-bed, state-of-the-art SCI center, a 150-bed inpatient facility, as well as outpatient and diagnostic clinics.
