The Children's Hospital
Founded in 1908 in Denver, Colorado, The Children’s Hospital is one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation. As a private, not-for-profit pediatric healthcare network, The Children’s Hospital is 100-percent dedicated to caring for kids of all ages and stages of growth. That dedication is evident in more than 1,000 pediatric specialists and more than 2,400 full-time employees.
The Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of research in childhood disease with several nationally and internationally recognized medical programs. It is also responsible for virtually all of the pediatric research published in the Rocky Mountain region for at least a decade.
From medical breakthroughs to late-night fevers, The Children’s Hospital provides complete pediatric care at its main campus and through a network that includes two emergency locations, three community based after-hours care sites, nine specialty care centers and more than 400 outreach clinics held in three states every year.
In October 2007, The Children’s Hospital is relocating to the Fitzsimons Life Science District. For the first time the care, research and education expertise will be located in the same place. The Children’s Hospital continues to grow and the new state-of-the-art facility at Fitzsimons is a natural part of this growth. This move will provide patients and parents with better technology by having the latest medical equipment available. The new hospital will be fronted by a 6.6 acre park with easy access to ample green space and trails at or adjacent to the District. The new hospital is being built to maximize natural light, to take advantage of the more than 300 days of sunshine in Colorado.
